'When the countdown revealed the destination I was ecstatic!'
After almost two years of lockdown, it's finally time to get adventurous again. So did Lauren and her partner Lee, who went on a mystery break to destination unknown. Time to find out how they experienced their surprise trip!
Lauren, you received a srprs.gift card for you birthday. Great gift, we must say! Were you already familiar with the srprs.me concept before this, or was the gift a total surprise?
'Such an amazing gift indeed! I actually had heard of the company and concept through a great friend of mine. She'd bought a gift card for her friend and joined him on the trip. I'd consider myself quite an adventurous person so I dropped SEVERAL hints to my family and partner for over a year now about how much I'd love to go on a surprise trip. Low & behold my parents took heed and gifted me a voucher for srprs.me. for my last birthday!'
You went for our bucket list trip, where you share your bucket list, and we'll make sure you can cross a city off. How did you come up with the cities that were added to your srprs.bucket list?
'I wish had documented this part of the process as myself and my partner spent a good 3 hours deciding the cities to put down. He told me to pick all the places I wanted to go to first since it was my gift and then he'd fill in the rest. We picked 5 places I'd always wanted to visit and never been, my partner Lee picked 4 cities and we put 1 wildcard (Belgrade, as I'd never met anyone who's from Serbia and I think it looks really cool!)'
So your bucket list was ready, your trip was booked, time to start the countdown! How did you enjoy the countdown period?
'I LOVED the countdown! It's like the equivalent of an advent calendar at Christmas, the closer it gets the more the excitement builds.'
Travelling is a bit more of a hassle than it used to be. How did you experience travelling with the current COVID restrictions?
'Obviously, travelling during COVID requires a little bit more organisation and paper work, but it was honestly grand. We were informed the week before that we didn't need to take any tests for our surprise destination and because at the time you needed a pre-departure test & day 2 test regardless of whether it was green or amber country to re-enter the UK, I had both of those booked in advance. Once the destination was revealed we were sent our accommodation so we could fill in the passenger locator form before boarding the flight.'
Finally it was time to hop on your plane to destination (un)known. What surprised you the most about your destination?
'Truth be told, the night before I was convinced we were going to Copenhagen because of the flight time, weather report and the fact we didn't need a PCR test. I was so convinced that I'd even packed 3 bathing suits to swim in the canals! I would've been delighted to go anywhere after 2020 but I've always wanted to see Poland I think it's a stunning place full of history & culture. So, when the countdown revealed Krakow I was ecstatic! What surprised me most about Krakow was the people, I've never travelled somewhere for such a short time and made so many friends. The people made the trip for me. Well, the people, perogies and vodka haha.'
Sounds like you had an amazing time. Would you recommend a surprise trip to other people?
'In a heartbeat! I can't recommend it enough. srprs.me is a fantastic company, anytime we needed help or couldn't figure something out our amazing booker Natalie was on hand and replied straight away. She even gave Lee her WhatsApp the night before just to make sure everything went smoothly at the airport.
This is the perfect gift and perfect company for anyone who loves travel, adventure and spontaneity. You take the hassle out of planning and just go with the flow. I can't wait to go again! (hint hint Lee if you're reading this).'
Curious about the trip of Lauren and Lee? Well, sit back and relax, because they made a great video about it. Enjoy!
