Curious what that surprise looks like? We’ve asked a few of our travelers to unlock their destination in front of our camera!

‘Will the current situation affect my srprs.trip?'

‘Will the current situation affect my srprs.trip?'

‘Will the current situation affect my srprs.trip?’ With COVID-19 and the situation in Ukraine, many srprs.travelers have this question. We totally understand, that's why we like to keep you informed via this blog. Read it thoroughly before you take srprs.trip so that you are well prepared.

Last update: Friday April 1, 11:55 hrs.

Which destinations do you book?
Of course we’ll only send you to safe destinations. We follow the travel advice of the Dutch government. If a destination is marked as unsafe, we won’t send you there. Only destinations marked as safe will be eligible for a srprs.trip.

Can I end up in Eastern Europe?
We adhere to the travel advice of the Dutch government, so countries in Eastern Europe that are marked as safe are eligible for a srprs.trip. Of course we keep a close eye on the travel advice.

I'd rather not go to Eastern Europe, is that possible?
With a regular city trip you can exclude a maximum of 3 cities. It’s not possible to exclude complete areas. If you really don’t want to visit Eastern Europe, there are 3 things you can do: book a city trip with a specific direction (for example west of south), book a New Places trip (this theme allows you to exclude an unlimited amount of cities, so you can exclude all cities in a certain country) or book a Bucket List trip (this theme allows you to include cities instead of excluding them, so you can decide which destinations you would want to visit).

Note: some countries still have a '2G rule'. This means that you can only enter public places, such as restaurants and museums, if you have been fully vaccinated against COVID, or if you recently have recovered from COVID and have a recovery certificate. With srprs.me, you book a surprise trip. To be able to surprise you with an amazing destination, we cannot take everyone’s individual vaccination status into account. This means that you can take a srprs.trip if you have not been vaccinated, but this will be at your own risk. It might be possible that you end up at a destination where a 2G policy applies. You will also have to be in possession of a negative PCR or antigen test before departure. Are you fully vaccinated or do you have a recent recovery certificate? Then a negative test is likely not necessary!

Do note that, without a booster shot, your vaccination certificate expires after 9 months. Apart from that, there are countries that require a booster shot, even if your first vaccination was less than 9 months ago. And there are also countries that require that you got your last shot no longer than 6 months ago. For this reason, we recommend that you get your booster dose before you take a trip. If you haven’t gotten your booster, you might need to take a COVID test before departure. The costs for this will be at your own expense.

Q&A fly trips

I’m going on a srprs.trip soon. Will this be possible?
Yes, it’s possible to take a srprs.trip! The green, red & amber lists have been abolished. Now there is only a red list, from which people will have to quarantine in a hotel at their own expense for 10 days. We’ll keep an eye on the travel advice and will only send you to destinations that are not on the red list, and where you’re allowed to enter as a UK citizen. Should it turn out that travelling is not possible on your selected date, for example because the travel advice changes last minute, we’ll contact you to discuss the possibilities. Please note that when you book a srprs.trip, we assume that you have made a well informed decision to travel. We therefore apply the regular terms and conditions regarding changes and cancellations. If you want to have more flexibility, we advise you to add Flexible Rebooking to your booking.

What do I have to arrange myself before departure?
Some countries still have a '2G rule'. Please note that without a booster shot, your vaccination certificate expires after 9 months. We recommend you get your booster dose before travelling.

Some countries require a negative COVID-19 test on top of your proof of vaccination. If this is the case for your srprs.destination, we will let you know. Do note that all the required tests are your own responsibility. You need to arrange them yourself and they will also be at your own expense.

For most destinations, before departure, you'll also have to fill out a travel form. In most cases, you need to provide details of your vaccination. Because we can't fill out this medical information for you, you have to do this yourself. If this is the case for your destination, we’ll send you an email with an attachment after you have unlocked your destination. In this attachment, you can find all information you need, and also a link to the form you need to fill out. So be sure to check your email, because if you don’t fill our this form, you’ll risk a fine!

Finally, you should bring a face mask when travelling. An FFP2 mask is mandatory in some countries, and some airlines also require this. We therefore advise you to always bring some FFP2 masks with you on your trip. Better safe than sorry!

I’m fully vaccinated, do I need to take a COVID-19 test as well?
For a lot of countries, proof of vaccination is accepted for entry. However, there are countries that require a negative COVID-19 test as well, even if you are fully vaccinated. If this is the case for your srprs.destination, we will let you know. Do note that all the required tests are your own responsibility. You need to arrange them yourself and they will also be at your own expense.

What if I test positive for COVID before departure?
When booking your trip you’ll have the option to add Flexible Rebooking. This allows you to rebook your trip free of charge up to 7 days before departure, no matter what the reason is. Do you receive a positive test result less than 7 days before departure, or did you not add Flexible Rebooking to your booking? Then you’ll have to contact your cancellation insurance. We cannot help you with this, so please make sure you take out cancellation insurance elsewhere! Also check the conditions carefully before you take out cancellation insurance.

I really don’t want to travel to country X or country Y. Can I exclude this?
With a regular city trip you can exclude a maximum of 3 cities. It’s not possible to exclude complete countries. If you really don’t want to visit certain countries, there are 2 things you can do: book a New Places trip (this theme allows you to exclude an unlimited amount of cities, so you can exclude all cities in a certain country) or book a Bucket List trip (this theme allows you to include cities instead of excluding them, so you can decide which destinations you would want to visit).

What are the rules and guidelines during my flight and at my destination?
Of course there are rules in place for travelling, for example wearing a face mask during your flight. You can read more about air travel under the current circumstances via this link. Also there will be specific rules at your destination, so don’t forget to check the most recent guidelines of your destination here.

What if the travel advice changes while I’m at my destination?
If your destination receives a negative travel advice while you’re there, you’ll likely have to quarantaine upon arrival back home. You can read more about this here.

Can I take a Multi City Trip?
Yes, you can. With a Multi City, you visit multiple countries in one trip. We’ll make sure you're welcome in all countries and only send you to countries with a positive travel advice.

Can I take a srprs.worldwide?
A srprs.worldwide is a 7-day trip to a city outside Europe. With the world slowly opening up, taking a worldwide trip is possible again. We’ll keep an eye on the travel advice and will only send you to destinations that are not on the red list, and where you’re allowed to enter as a UK citizen.

What if I test positive for COVID-19 while at my destination?
If you test positive for COVID-19 while at your destination, you may need to seek treatment where you are, and stay until you have recovered. If local authorities tell you to quarantine, you should expect to do that where you are. This means you won’t be able to return with your original flight. If this happens, you have to contact your travel insurance for assistance. Therefore it’s important to check the conditions of your travel insurance before departure. Do you not have a travel insurance, or are they unable to help? Please contact srprs.me. Unfortunately we won’t be able to book you a new flight, but of course we’re happy to support you in this process. Keep in mind that the extra costs will be at your own expense.

Do I need to take a COVID-19 test when returning home?
No, you do not have to take a COVID-19 test when returning to the UK. This applies whether you’re vaccinated or not. Please always check the UK government website for the latest information on returning to the UK.

Do you offer travel and/or cancellation insurance?
No, we only offer the option of Flexible Rebooking. This option allows you to rebook your trip free of charge up to 7 days before departure. However, if you are forced to cancel your trip last-minute, or if something happens at your destination, you’ll need to get assistance from a cancellation of travel insurance which you can take out elsewhere.

Can I rebook or cancel my srprs.trip?
You can always cancel your trip according to our cancellation policy. You can find this policy in our general terms and conditions. Have you added Flexible Rebooking to your srprs.trip? Then you can rebook your trip up to 7 days before departure. We’ll transfer the amount you paid for your trip, excluding the costs for the Flexible Rebooking option, to your srprs.wallet. This allows you to book a new srprs.trip at a later time. The credit in your wallet will never expire. Do you want to rebook your trip less than 7 days before departure, or did you not add Flexible Rebooking to your booking? Then there will be costs involved for rebooking. Please contact us to check the options.

I’m going on a srprs.trip in a few months. What if there is a new outbreak of the coronavirus at that time?
We’d love to take a look into the future to see how the coronavirus is going to develop, but unfortunately this will also be a surprise for us. Because we simply don’t know how the virus will develop and what the impact will be at the many srprs.destination, we cannot answer that question at this moment. However, we can tell you that we’ll always follow the travel advice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We’ll never send you to a destination that has negative travel advice.

Do I need anything when taking a road trip?
