A day in the life of a srprs.consultant

‘Because of the coronavirus we’re all working from home, so this is my workplace now!’

Yes, someone’s going on a srprs.trip! What exactly happens after someone makes a booking?
’Every new booking is like a little party, because it means we can start looking for an amazing destination! First of all the booking is assigned to one of the srprs.consultants. We all have the same goal: provide the traveller with an unforgettable experience.’

‘When a booking is assigned to me, I first do a quick check. Did the traveller leave a comment? Are there any things I should take into account? And of course; is all the information correct? After this check, I can get started on the best part: actually book the trip! When everything is arranged - flights, hotels, etc - I gather tips for the destination. I add these to the booking, so the traveller can view the tips after revealing the destination. And for a road trip, I add a scenic route as well!’

It must remain a top secret of course: the destination. How do you pick a destination?
’'I first take a look at which cities the traveller has excluded. This will tell you a lot already. In case of a road trip, I also check whether the travellers has a preference for a rural or an urban destination. Next, I start looking for a suitable destination and accommodation. We all spend a lot of time looking at reviews. The accommodation itself must always be rated an 8 or higher. I also ask myself two questions. First, would I like to wake up here myself? And second, could I have an unforgettable experience here? Do I answer both questions with a yes? That means I go for it!’

Has the booking process changed now that we’re dealing with all kinds of corona measures?
’Yes, some things have changed due to the coronavirus outbreak. The main thing is that we keep a very close eye on the travel advice, so the traveller does not have to worry about this. We always did this, but with the coronavirus this has become a bit more challenging. The travel advice can suddenly change, so if a destination receives a negative travel advice, we rebook all the trips going there. We take the health of our travellers very seriously!’

Will this lead to changes for the travellers as well?
’We take all the work off their hands. Selecting safe destinations, find out which hotels are suitable, you name it. Of course we’ve always done this, so in that sense little will change for our srprs.travellers. Just pick a date and sit back! However, travellers must take into account that airlines take measures on board, for example wearing a face mask during the flight. And there will also be measures and guidelines at the destination, just like we have at home.’

What do you like most about booking srprs.trips?
’The satisfaction I get from it! You really want to go the extra mile to arrange the perfect trip. If this succeeds, and travellers tell you they had a great trip, my mission is accomplished.’

What do you like most, booking a flight trip or a road trip?
’Good one! I think I’ll have to say road trip. There are just so many great places to discover close to home, you really wouldn’t expect that.’

Every day you come across a lot of great destinations. If you were to go on a srprs.trip yourself, where would you want to end up?
’That’s a difficult question! Of course you shouldn’t hope for a specific destination, because letting it all go is what it’s all about. You just have to trust that it all works out, that’s the fun part. A destination that you would never have thought of, may leave a huge impression. A few years ago, when I didn’t work at srprs.me yet, I went on a srprs.trip myself. My destination was Warsaw and it was amazing. It was an unforgettable city break!’
